Yesterday I worked on several people with low and mid back pain who sit all day long. They exercise regularly, but are still afflicted. When we sit many compressive forces come into play, one being the amount of pressure exerted on the Thoracolumbar Fascia (TLF). When we walk force is transmitted from the gluteus maximus via the TLF to the contralateral lat. If this force in the TLF cannot be dissipated by movement, it accumulates and becomes pain. Everyone had overactive TLFs and under active glutes and lats. We are made to move, not sit.
